Halloween Dinner Party

I love entertaining, especially during this time of the year.  The house is all decked out in its Halloween best, just begging for people to come visit.  Husband and I had some family that we don't get to see very often in town this weekend, and we decided it was time for a get together.  While it wasn't a Halloween party per se, the mood was definitely festive.  Here are some pictures from the weekend.

For me, fresh cut flowers are a must.  I like to have them in the house throughout the year, but think they make a dinner party extra official.  Most of the flowers pictured here were beautiful hostess gifts.

Hors d'oeurves time (with a little Halloween flair).

I love olives (plus, they are so easy to serve).  Whole Foods has an amazing olive bar.  Also,  I just love any chance I have to use my olive spoon.

I tried to get the pirate's arm around the bottle of rum, but the bottle wouldn't fit on the second shelf.  I think you get the idea.

I lived in Atlanta for a time after college, and I started collecting some Coke items (Coke is headquartered there).  Husband and I found the bottle opener on the wall at the Vermont Country Store, and it has turned out to be one of our favorite purchases.  My sister found the cap catcher a few months later which made the look complete (not to mention, totally functional).

The dogs impatiently staring out the window, waiting for people to arrive.  As we frantically prepare the house for company (i.e. put stuff away so as to make our house look uncluttered.  This includes dog toys and dog beds.) they know something is up.

Preparing to set the table.

Guest bathroom.

The perfect salad (courtesy of the in-laws).

Dinner buffet style, with homemade sauce.  I promise that I will eventually learn how not to stand in my own light and cast a shadow.

The main course: braciole.  Recipe coming tomorrow.

Dessert, by Whole Foods.  I love to bake, but sometimes it is nice to not have to worry about making dessert.  The Whole Foods bakery is my go to for delicious baked goods (plus, nieces and nephews get a kick out of it).

Come back tomorrow for a braciole recipe from me (and Giada deLaurentiis).

Your home looks great and the cake is sooo cute. But, the dogs are my favorite - sitting so patiently waiting for company to arrive and drop something!

Hi, I'm Erin. I am living back on the east coast after 15 years out west. Currently readjusting to humidity and mosquitos. I love to take pictures and read fashion magazines.... and to talk about nothing in particular (ok, and my dogs).
