They smell quite bad (but if you have ever given one to your dog, you already know that). Of course, this means that my pups love them more than anything. When the three of them get to chewing in a small, poorly ventilated room (let's say, the office where I sit and blog), the air becomes thick and it gets a little hard to breathe. In case you didn't know, this is what bully sticks (or chewies as they are called in my house) are made of (courtesy of Wikipedia):
Pizzle is an old English word for penis, derived from Low German pesel or Flemish Dutch pezel, diminutive of pees 'sinew'. The word is used today to signify the penis of a non-human animal, now chiefly used in Australia and New Zealand.
Pizzles are almost exclusively used/produced today as chewing treats for dogs. They are a fibrous muscle, and are prepared by cleaning, stretching, twisting and then drying. Bully Sticks, as they are commonly called, can be smoked in a traditional smoker and can impart a smoked aroma if done with wood.
How is that for a fun fact? Yeah, I had that look on my face too when I first found out. As you can see, they couldn't be any happier (apparently the stinkier, the better).

So cute. I'm lucky enough to have a dog that won't touch them so I don't have to worry about the smell.
Hah! Gross.
But I adore the pictures of the dogs chowing down- so cute

I have 2 dogs and had never heard of this.
I will keep this post hidden from them so they don't ask me to get them one.
