Something Blue & Meet-Up Reminder

Before I start this book review, I just wanted to remind you of the Bay Area blogger meet-up that is coming up later this year.  If you are in the area and are interested in getting to know some of the local bloggers, please let me know.  There are so many of you that I would love to meet, it makes me wish that we all lived closer (but that you could still blog about all of the cool stuff going on where you currently live at the same time.  I like to have my cake and eat it too).

Now on to my latest read, Something Blue.    I had mentioned previously that I really enjoyed the prequel to this book, Something Borrowed.  So much so, that I immediately started reading listening to this book when I was finished with the movie version of Something Borrowed.  I really like author Emily Giffin's writing style, and found it just as easy to plow through the second book.

This story is in two parts.  The first half of the book basically recaps the events from the first book, but from Darcy's point of view.  Darcy was the self-centered best friend in the previous book who did some not so nice things.  You really get to understand her point-of-view and why she behaves the way she does.  The second part of the books revolves around her decision to make a major life change and move to London.  She soon realizes that she can't go on behaving the way she has in the past if she is going to have any kind of future.

I really loved this book.  I would give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.  Darcy started out as a very unsympathetic character, and by the end of the book I really wanted her to have a happy ending.  I hope there is a movie version of this story too (if you watched the credits of the first move, there was a scene halfway through that alluded to one).  Both of these books are definitely worth reading.

Next up, A Stolen Life: A Memoir, which is Jaycee Dugard's story.  I am about halfway through and it is both heartbreaking and inspiring.  Will be back with a review when I am done.

I want to read this! I recently bought Something Borrowed and I had no idea it was prequel to this. Glad to hear it was a good read!

I read this recently but have never read Something Borrowed. I think that'll be next on my list! I didn't realize it's a prequel but that's okay. Sometimes I'm a rebel.

I can't read your post because I'm not done with Something Borrowed yet! I vowed to never read these books and now I'm hooked.

Thank you for your comment on my blog. I agree, it is SO hard :(

But it's people like you who still make my day, despite whether I show it or not :)

Thank youu!

--Sounds like an interesting book! That'd be nice if they did make it into a movie!
