Christmas Movies I've Never Seen

Every year, in December, I watch the same few Christmas movies (over and over again).

First we start here:

A Christmas Story
Then we move on to this:

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Around that time, this usually ends up on the tv :

Elf

And of course, it wouldn't be Christmas without this:

Bad Santa
My point being, I have never seen It's A Wonderful Life... or Miracle On 34th Street...and, ok, I haven't even sat through one viewing of The Santa Claus.  My question to you, dear readers, is twofold.

1) Am I missing out?
2)What holiday themed movies am I missing out on?  What are the holiday movies that everyone should see?  (and just to give you a little help, here is a link to everything Wikipedia considers a Christmas movie,, though your selections do not have to be on that list ).

I can't wait to hear your answers (and hopefully stream of few of your classics this December).

Hey Erin, I watch the same movies except for Bad Santa. I haven't seen that one yet. My suggestion is "It Happened on 5th Avenue" Its a movie from 1947 and it is so wonderful!

This is a crime! Hahah! Christmas Story is one of my all-time faves. Such a warm and funny story. You have to see it! You'll fall in love with Ralphie and his little brother.

I like to watch A Charlie Brown Christmas every year. It brings me back to childhood and puts me in that Xmas spirit.

i don't think ppl read your post correctly! I would second Charlie Brown Xmas--I own the soundtrack. Skip the Santa Clause and there's one from the 80s wDudley Moore that's bad. View Miracle and Wonderful Life at least once.

I try to watch as many versions of a Christmas Carol as possible. My faves are Muppets, Scrooged and the one with Patrick Stewart. You have to, have to, have to watch It's a Wonderful Life. Home Alone is pretty awesome too

Seems like we are getting the same movies...
it's the same that's on tv here !
AND I must add that they also show 1970's movies of the birth of Jesus.

So glad to know I'm not the only one who has never seen "It's a Wonderful Life" OR "Miracle on 34th Street" (the original one w/ Natalie Wood).
Christmas Vacation is a yearly tradition in my house as is A Christmas Story.
P.S. In non-holiday related news, I've never seen Breakfast at Tiffany's and only recently saw the Sound of Music. I've also never seen Footloose w/ Kevin Bacon.

i haven't seen any of the "traditional" christmas movies either -i do think it may be a generational thing?

either way my mother in law and husband are obsessed with christmas story and we watch it, bad santa, and christmas vacation every year.

happy december!

Your first 3 are my top 3. I've never seen those old sappy movies either and don't plan on it. Any movie that makes my dad cry (It's a Wonderful Life) will make me cry until my eyeballs flood out. No thanks.

You are missing out (although I haven't seen half these movies either!)!! I think they really make you feel festive :) xxx

Definitely see It's A Wonderful Life at least once, if for no other reason than it's a classic Christmas movie. The Muppet Christmas Carol is pretty adorable if you're into that. And, of course, Home Alone. (The original, not HA2).

I'm generally not a fan of Christmas movies, but I kind of enjoyed the Santa Clause.

Also, I FINALLY completed your award tag!

Hey Erin! I have the same tradition of watching the same Christmas movies every year...sometimes, I alternate movies every other year cause' there's just too many. I can't believe that you haven't seem some of the classics! Miracle on 34th Street (the original) is just wonderful!

To name a few faves of mine: Home Alone 1 and 2, The Ref, All I want for Christmas, and Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail. I'm pretty sure the last one isn't a Christmas movie but it's just got that "merry" feeling.

Hi, I'm Erin. I am living back on the east coast after 15 years out west. Currently readjusting to humidity and mosquitos. I love to take pictures and read fashion magazines.... and to talk about nothing in particular (ok, and my dogs).
