A Toasted Marshmallow Shake and Madonna

If you follow me on Pinterest, you know that I have a lot of boards and pin a lot of stuff (you guys might need to stage an intervention).  I love going back and looking at my pins for ideas, but have never actually done anything with them, until now.  I decided that in 2012,  I need to actually try some of these awesome ideas that I saved.  This is my first attempt.

One of my favorite cooking blogs, Joy the Baker, posted this recipe a while back (and I pinned it).  Toasted marshmallows are one of my favorite indulgences, and the idea of turning this into a drink was way too much temptation for me to handle.  We followed her recipe here, with the addition of chocolate syrup (to make it a chocolate milkshake, instead of vanilla).  I swear by chocolate syrup, instead of chocolate ice cream itself for shakes.  I just think it tastes better that way.  Also, husband added some graham cracker crumbles to his, to make it a liquid s'more.  Well played husband.  Well played.

I used my gas range to toast the marshmallows, and it worked well.  It only took me about three tries to create the non-charred version you see here.  Note: They do catch on fire quickly (but taste perfectly fine).

As always, I would love to hear from you if you make this (or even if you have already given it a whirl).  Enjoy!

And on a totally separate note, how about Madonna at the Super Bowl last night?  At 53 years old, she still rocks my socks off.  If you didn't catch it, here it is.  If you are a fan, this is worth watching. If you aren't a fan, this might just change your mind.  This is old school Madonna at her best.

Toasted marshmallow milkshakes are my weakness! I also based it on Joy's recipe and it came out so delicious. There was actually a point a few months ago when I was drinking it everyday!

This looks good - i do not need more encouragement on eating :)
AND I had not seen the Madonna performance at the superbowl yesterday. I decided to watch Seinfeld reruns and catch up on some Revenge episodes.
I must say that it was quite a performance - not sure it was worth the 80+ million bucks.

I just started Pinterest and am obsessed already! I think I'm going to be able to plan my entire wedding (whenever that'll be) on there. Madonna looks AMAZING at 53! I was watching in awe!

Yum! My fave burger place in DC makes a killer toasted marshmallow shake that I absolutely love. And I also though the half-time show was great!

I thought the concert was great! Madonna is such much better than many young "singers" out there. And then I went on Twitter and some people say it was horrible/awful. WHATT?!?!?!

Some people will never be happy with the SUperbowl show. It was SO much better than screechy Fergie last year!!

That shake looks amazeballs.

I love Madonna too and was so super excited to see her finally do a half-time show. But while I thought the dancers, effects, Cee Lo/M.I.A./Nicki Minaj were awesome, it was a little sad for me to watch her. She did a fabulous job, especially for a 53-yr old woman, but her movements seemed a little stiff and not as sharp and poppy as she used to be. It was sad because it was the first time I realized Madonna has actually aged, even though you can't really tell based on her looks.

I loved watching Madonna. Kudos to her to taking on the choreography of a 20 year old.
