Fifty Shades Darker (Everyone's Bemused)

Two down, one to go.  Maybe it is because I am now two books in, but the terrible writing isn't bugging me as much this time around.  While I would not call this a literary masterpiece, I did find myself staying in the car for a few extra minutes to finish up each chapter (I listen to audiobooks).  There were some interesting character developments here, and I enjoyed the story itself.

I had mentioned in my review of the first book, that it ended in a kind of cliffhanger.  I found myself really wanting to know what was going to happen next.  This book picks up where the first book left off.  There was a lot more action taking place this time, more of a story (with about the same amount of graphic sex.  If that is what you are looking for, you will not be disappointed.).

The writing here is still only one out of five stars, but I found the entertainment factor to hold steady at 4.5.  At some point, everyone in the story in "bemused", sometimes multiple times a page.  The author also refers to main character Anastasia Steele's sex quite frequently, which is apparently a body part I never learned about in anatomy.  However, the story itself moved at a nice pace, and tied up some satisfying loose ends.

Next up, Fifty Shades Freed, because I have to finish the trilogy.  The second book wrapped things up nicely, and the last few pages introduced the story line for the third book.  I am not yet convinced that we needed a third book, but I will try to reserve judgement until I have finished.

If you have read (or are currently reading) this series, I would love to hear your take on it.

I thought the second was pretty good. I can't get through the 3rd. I started it in June put it down and never picked it back up. I got bored!

I can't even begin to think of reading this series. I am so behind in my reading. I have stacks of books on my side table.

Hi, I'm Erin. I am living back on the east coast after 15 years out west. Currently readjusting to humidity and mosquitos. I love to take pictures and read fashion magazines.... and to talk about nothing in particular (ok, and my dogs).
