Have You Seen Any Good Scary Movies Lately?

I can't really say that there is anything I am dying to see.  The thing about October is that I want to be thrilled.  I want to see something creepy and new (to me).  I want to watch the screen in-between my fingers while they are covering my eyes.  I feel like I get disappointed a lot.  Do you have any recommendations?

I have one for you.  The best horror-ish movie I have seen this year is Let The Right One In

and it's American equivalent, Let Me In.

If you haven't seen either version, I highly recommend them.  The premise of these movies is that a young vampire girl and her guardian move in next door to a lonely boy.  The girl and boy become friends.  She needs to feed on humans in order to survive.  He is bullied at school.  Through various circumstances, they come to depend on each other.  Although the Swedish version is slightly better, the American version is also great if subtitles aren't your thing.  These films are haunting, and great to watch while cuddled up under a blanket.  If you have seen either, I would love to hear your thoughts.

So getting back to this weekend, I have decided to make husband sit through both Paranormal Activity 3 and Hellraiser.  I haven't seen either, and don't have any better suggestions...yet.  Help!!

Ooh, no scary movies for me! I love Halloween, but only the "fun scary" type of stuff -- LOL.

Those two movies sound great, Erin. I love anything with vampires. Will look for them for sure now. TY:)

I'm too much of scaredy cat to watch horror movies but I do like a good suspense flick. I've heard great things about Let The Right One In though.

So some of my favourite horror flicks are by Guillermo del Toro - like The Orphanage and Pan's Labyrinth. Also, some of the Japanese films are super scary and sick, don't know if you're into that type of horror

I get scared so easily but most American horror movies have more of a shock factor than a scary factor to them. I agree with Rooth though - I've seen some seriously creepy Japanese horror films (but I can't remember the names because they were in Japanese...). That Swedish one you recommended sounds good though!

I'm not usually a fan of horror movies but I enjoyed Let The Right One In. It wasn't scary at all, rather a sweet film about bullies and friendship. Let Me In was okay but the violence was more explicit - not so good if you don't like gore!

I have a love/hate relationship with scary movies. I love the idea but get so scared watching them!

I haven't watched many scary movies recently, so I can't really give you any ideas. My taste tends towards the slightly ridiculous or thought provoking, for what it's worth. Silence of the Lambs, Red Dragon...that sort of thing.

I really liked both of those movies. The last really scary movie that I have seen was Insidious. It wasn't so scary when I was watching it, but it hung around in my mind for awhile afterwards.
