Last week, my cousin Vicki came to town for a visit. We had a fun time showing her around the Bay Area and playing tourist. We picked her up from the airport, and immediately headed towards the Golden Gate Bridge. We drove over it and to a spot on the other side known as the
Marin Headlands. If you are ever in the area, it is the best spot to take pictures of the bridge. It can also be very windy, so use a lot of hairspray.

As you climb up the hill, you can see the bridge peaking out. |
|
This is the left side of the bridge, looking toward Tiburon and Belvedere Island, and of course, San Quentin. The island on the right is Angel Island, known as the Ellis Island of the West. |
|
Farther along the Marin Headlands hill. There are more spots to view the bridge higher up. |
|
Alcatraz, surrounded by sailboats. |
|
I have a penchant for taking self-portraits with my iPhone. I tried to get both of us and the bridge in the shot. Fail! |

This is my cousin Vicki and me in front of the bridge. Note the wind. |
If you ever visit the area, this should be on your agenda.

You would think with all the fancy apps out there, we would have found one that helps us take self portraits. I, too, suffer the "oh, that's my forehead at the San Francisco bridge" issue.
