One day, I saw
the Rocketboat roaring around the Bay, and it
looked like a good time. I made a mental note to try to get tickets for
it when my cousin was in town.
This was literally one of the most fun things I have done in San Francisco. I admit that I am a sucker for a speedboat. I love being out in the water and the temperature in the city in October is usually in the 70's.
The boat takes you out into the Bay, spins you around, and gets you wet. If you do not like thrill rides, this is probably not the attraction for you. If you do not like to get wet, they hand out free ponchos (however, your makeup might just start running and smudging).
It leaves from Pier 39, speeds under the Bay Bridge, and out to AT&T Park (home of the Giants). The boat circles around McCovey Cove, outside of AT&T Park for a photo op. This is a statue of Willie McCovey in the cove.
While
we were waiting in line for the Rocketboat, we saw a Blue Angel or two or six taking practice runs for Fleet Week.
This is the boat in action, coming back to port.
The obligatory picture that they charge you an arm and a leg for, with my cousin, myself, and the husband.
We had so much fun that we want to ride it again. This time, I am going to wear waterproof mascara and not put the poncho on backwards.
