I Just Want To Thank You

Today is Thanksgiving, a day where I get to eat all of my favorite foods: mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing and gravy, turkey and gravy, a miscellaneous healthy veggie dish slathered in gravy, etc.  As you may know by now, we are hosting for the first time ever this year, and have been planning all of the details for weeks.

Well, two days ago I woke up with the sorest throat ever.   Yesterday it was even worse.  My nose is stuffy, it hurts to swallow, and nothing tastes right.  To say I am bummed is a bit of an understatement.

I have a house full of people coming over today.  I am grateful for family wanting to spend the day with us.  I am grateful for the turkey that we have spent all night brining.   I am grateful that my wonderful husband jumped in and made the cranberry sauce for me, so I don't spread my cooties to anyone else.
That very same wonderful husband is pumping me full of Dayquil and Emergen-C.  I have three adorable dogs who have been keeping me company when I need just a little more sleep before the Nyquil fully wears off in the morning  I have a warm house full of love.  I have a job that I actually like.  I have a wonderful family, both on my side and my husbands.  My problems are all very first world problems.  The kind of problems that come from having a comfortable life.  No it isn't a perfect life, but I am happy it is mine

So I can't really taste the gravy today.  I am already really sick of being sick.  I have the great fortune of knowing that this will pass, and in a few days I will be back to normal.  Let's face it, I will probably be taking care of my husband who will catch this cold next (and whoever catches it second always gets it worse).  I am grateful that I get to return the favor (of taking care of him, not of passing on the cold).

And to be perfectly honest, I am VERY thankful about this...

What are you thankful for today?

Being sick on the holidays especially when hosting isn't the ideal situation but I am sure you will have a wonderful day.

I am grateful for so much and I love those pics you put up because they are all true...especially the fact that spiders can't fly lol and centipedes too!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and feel better!

Boo - I'm sorry that you're sick but it's really great that family all came over anyway. My family / friends would totally quarantine me

I'm Erin

Hi, I'm Erin. I am living back on the east coast after 15 years out west. Currently readjusting to humidity and mosquitos. I love to take pictures and read fashion magazines.... and to talk about nothing in particular (ok, and my dogs).
