The Hike With The Buck In The Weeds

It is that time of the year where the days are much shorter and cooler.  It rains...a lot.  I get home from work and it is already dark outside (yuck).  This means that the freeways are a mess, because nobody can seem to remember how to drive in the dark (but I'll save that rant for another blog post).  Husband and I had to put our after-work hiking hobby on hold for a few months, but here are some pictures from the last one we took.

There are many trails that intersect each other in our local open space.  These markers (along with my iPhone) really help me figure out where I am.  I was not born with a terrific any sense of direction.

A beautiful view of Mt. Diablo as we ascend 650 feet (which just about murdered my calves).  No pain, no gain?

Down in the valley.

I am not going to lie, I really like how tall I look here.

I got tired of sliding around on the sand and rocks, so I finally invested in a pair of trail shoes.  They are very comfortable and have fantastic grip.  I might try a pair of hiking shoes next year.  If anyone has any recommendations, I would love to hear from you.

We saw several deer during this hike, but this was the clearest picture I was able to get.  Isn't he a beauty?

The sun setting over the valley.

I can totally relate. I feel like a zombie during the colder months of the year. I need my sunrays and fresh air. This is a good reminder to get out and about on weekends during day time instead of sleeping in an spend the rest of the time on the couch :-/

I've never invested in hiking shoes. But then, I'm not a serious hiker. :)

Gorgeous shot of the deer! The only ones we get to see here are the ones dead on the side of the highway :(

Nice pictures, Erin, especially the one with the deer! I love nature, no matter the season. I admit that the only thing I don't like about winter is that the days are shorter. At 5 pm is already dark outside...

My photo
Hi, I'm Erin. I am living back on the east coast after 15 years out west. Currently readjusting to humidity and mosquitos. I love to take pictures and read fashion magazines.... and to talk about nothing in particular (ok, and my dogs).
