I have been getting some questions about the happenings in the garden. That both thrills me to no end (because I love talking about our garden), and scares the bejesus out of me (because sometimes I am not really sure I know what I am doing). Right now I have some beautiful spring flowers and some promising looking edibles Here is a little tour.
This is the first year ever that I got these peonies to bloom, and I am loving every second. A neighbor gave me some great advice. I threw ice on the ground where the bulbs were (during the heart of winter) about 3-4 times. The plant needed the freeze to bloom. I am so in love with these.
Mini-carnations that I have had for about three years now. I am pleased with how hardy they are.
An iris of some kind in my favorite color. You will notice that I tend to favor anything purple.
Gerbera daisies
One of my rose bushes.
I made this succulent planter a few moths back, and I am happy with how well it is filling in. It is very low maintenance.
I got this peony as a gift from my mother-in-law, and it bloomed the first year. I have two other bulbs that she gifted to me that didn't bloom this year. I will be icing them this winter.
My yellow rose bush.
This is future plum cobbler.
Future peach cobbler
Another rose
This is where blackberries come from.
Remember the onions that I planted here? This is what they look like now.
We have never tried planting carrots before, so we did them in a pot. We were supposed to thin them out (we grew them from seed) but we didn't. I have no idea how these are going to turn out.
Surprise, another rose!
Some tine little pears.
That covers all that is interesting in my garden right now. Have you tried growing anything in your yard? I would love to see what you are up to.

I love this post! I just grow roses and we have some fruit trees.
You have a fabulous garden!!! Im loving all of the beautiful colors that are in it. So gorgeous. You truly have a green thumb!
Not many people know this about me but, I adore gardening too. I love reading about classic gardeners such as Gertrude Jekyl. Gardening is such a pleasure, and so rewarding. It is a great way to escape, and to keep in touch with the real world! It's so lovely and refreshing to read your blog, and about you and your beautiful garden! p.s. Thanks for your lovely comments on my blog too! xx
you have some great things coming up! we have several orange trees, an avocado tree, string beans, collard greens, pineapple, lettuce...all with the help of my mom, tho! i do not have any green thumbs!!

Oh my gosh! Erin, I'm so jealous of your garden! It's turning out really nice. And thanks for sharing that peony tip.
These are all beautiful! I wish I had these type of flowers and trees in my yard. I do NOT have the green thumb. Poor plants die no matter how much I water them.
Your garden looks beautiful! I love peonies. They are definitely one of my favorite flowers.
You have a real garden, your yard must be beautiful!! I cannot wait until I have a house and can start gardening. We live in an apartment and my hubby bought me lettuce and basil for valentines day instead of flowers, but they didn't survive because we don't get enough sun on our balcony!
I don't have a green thumb but I hope to learn how to garden someday. Your garden is beautiful!
Oh my gosh, your garden is amazing! WOW! Those peonies are huge and purple irises are favorites of mine.
Cool tip about the ice cubes on the peonies. :)
wow so beautiful!

Glorious! Thanks for the update. I have two peonies that I can't get to flower and trust me, we get enough ice and snow so that isn't a problem. So far this year they are still sprouts but I have my fingers crossed that they will have at least one flower. My next door neighbour has the most beautiful peony display every year, so I know it is possible in our area.
Oh my gosh, your flowers look amazing!! I need you to help me with mine, they never look this good. I am obsessed with succulents right now - love your planter!!

What a gorgeous garden!!! My peonies are starting to grow in and so are my lily of the valley and hydrangeas! So excited... they're my favorites! xo
You have so many beautiful blooms,
I'm on envy mode.
Goodness, I wish I had a garden. That is definitely one negative about city living. Currently, living vicariously through you!
