Do you have any embarrassing pictures? I do. I thought I would share one with you today. You're welcome.
Back when I was in high school (in the early 90's....gasp), Glamour Shots was the fun thing to do. In a nutshell, they would do your hair and makeup and let you pick out "fun" outfits. Then you would sit for a photo session. They would clean up your pictures (read: Photoshop, before regular people had it) and charge you a ridiculous amount of money to purchase them.
Naturally, one of my best friends and I saved up some money and made an appointment. We were 17 years old, and $140 was a big deal. We took some of our pictures together (I believe there was kind of a biker theme that involved bustiers and leather). Then we got to pick our individual looks. I choose a red dress and pearls (and some big hair, obviously). It was 1993.
I just looked up Glamour Shots to see if they are still around, and I was surprised to see that they are (even the location at the Sawgrass Mills Mall, where I had mine taken). It does appear that have toned down the looks a little bit. Now they ask you to bring your own outfits and take family portraits. I guess you have to change with the times.
Do you have a Glamour Shot (or other equally embarrassing pictures from your teenage years) that you would like to share? I would love to see them (and I am pretty sure my readers would too). If you do a post on yours, I will plug it over here. Spread the love!

i remember taking something similar w my friends in hs. it wasn't as "glamorous" as Glamour Shots but they let u pick a cheesy background & made u & your friends pose in the cheesiest poses imaginable. i think i still have some evidence lying in a box somewhere hahaha ohhh to be young again! i still wonder why my friends & i thought it was a good idea to go take them!
hee hee totally cute - you should be proud :) le xox
Bless you! I have to say they didn't really do this sort of thing in the UK - not that I know of anyway!

I always wanted Glamour Shots when I was in middle school but my mom wouldn't let me. Thank you Mom!
Oh my goodness, that's absolutely amazing! I wanted to do glamour shots so badly when I was a kid
Girl...that picture is not embarrassing at all! You should see mine...then again, maybe not:P I grew up the same time you did, and I remember GS. Heehee...never had the money to do it though.
every pic of me is awkward! ah, glamour shots...they were big down here with girls rocking a cowgirl hat. i didn't get it!
PS--I roll my hair on the sides so i can sleep on my back and it doesn't hurt. i also will put my hair in a bun/buns for a similar effect.
You look great in this picture! All of my teen shots are filled with acne, frizzy hair and general awkwardness.
I think is a very nice picture :)
Oh wow!! I remember my aunt getting Glamour Shots for her 40th birthday when I was little and I wanted to do it so badly!!
Ha, this brings back memories! I didn't get them taken but my best friend did - funnily enough that was back in the 90s, too xo
o my god this is too funny!
That picture is so cute!!! But I do cringe when I think of the glamour shots I took back in middle school with my best friend at the time. Thinking back, those places WERE kinda over the top! xo

Oh my gosh, this is amazing! I always passed on these as a teenager because, you know, they were a massive rip off. Now I'm regretting it though! Look how sweet and funny they are!
Wish I had a copy, but I know I had a photo posing with my flute. One of my senior pics, I think. Because, you know, I played the flute. And band was.... cool?
I should totally get my dad to scan & email it to me. They prob know where it is. Fun post idea! I'll have to do this soon. Will give u credit.
oh my gosh you look so pretty! very 90's haha! but nonetheless still pretty! and yes, i have tons of pics but i will have to think about whether or not i want to have them posted haha!!
p.s. ccr is {credence clearwater revival} the band - songs like down on the corner, have you ever seen the rain, etc. etc. i'm sure you'd recognize them if you heard a song...

When you started off by saying 'embarrassing photos' I was thinking more on the lines of... embarrassing outfit with an embarrassing cheesy face hahaha. Um, NOT! This is really stunning actually.
Haha unfortunately I'm still in high school and so maybe if I do have the time I'll try this out ;)

PS- in response to your comment on my blog, if you click on the thing link, you have to click it again on the white page but anyway, she's impersonating me and pretending to use my pictures as herself. Not okay with that.

Erin this is SO awesome! I certainly do remember glamour shots and they were in the mall near my parent's house. Sadly, I never had this done but really wanted to because I thought it was SO awesome to look like a celebrity! What I didn't know was that glamour shots only did waist up tops. In taiwan their form of glamour shots are the whole 9 yards, outfits, background, scenery... Sadly I've never had that done but would love it. You look beautiful, even if it was in the early 90s, this is very ala julia roberts pretty woman :)
THANK YOU for introducing me to Sons of Anarchy! Watched the first few episodes this weekend and we are totally hooked. Already half in love with Jazz xo
It's a very pretty photo of you!
Girlfriend-you are gorgeous! As cheesy as this is-you look great! The earrings are massive, and the gloves are very old Hollywood!
xx

Hahaha. Oh, I remember Glamour Shots!! I desperately wanted my pictures done there, but my parent's weren't quite as excited about my idea.
I hope you've had a wonderful weekend!
You do look very glamorous! I wasn't old enough to get them when they were really popular, but my aunt and grandma did. Oh the good old days!
Agh Erin - you look really pretty.

Nope, no glamour shots, but plenty of fairly embarrassing pictures. Luckily there's only one copy of each in existence, and they are all in Sardinia, buried somewhere at the bottom of a drawer in my parent's apartment :-)
I remember when Glamour shots were the IT thing to do. I never got them, and I am kind of glad now as I dont have embarrassing pictures (at least not MORE)
and i think yours is quite nice... really. I don't think you've seen REALY BAD embarrassing ones.
Ha! I got some of these too back in the day. I'll have to search pretty hard to find them though.
HaHa..I never had a glamor shot, but my sister did it was shot trough a Vaseline coated lens! I love the gloves very lady like! I have a photo I'll share as soon as I dig it out!! Too funny great post Erin!
I never got Glamour Shots, but I have plenty of embarrassing pictures from my teenage years, haha.
You look like you're running for Miss America and WINNING! So awesome
